We have received accreditation from two Covid-19 ready schemes, Visit England and the AA, with Risk Assessments and Cleaning Schedules completed (available on request) to show we are following the current government approved cleaning protocols provided by The Professional Association of Self-Caterers (PASC UK) confirming we can safely welcome guests to Jack's Cottage.
From July 19th 2021, as lockdown restrictions are eased, these have been updated and we are no longer advised to rotate bedding, steam clean soft furnishings or wash all crockery between visits, but use a 'common sense approach'.
However, we will continue to carry out a full Covid secure clean of the cottage prior to your arrival and provide hand sanitiser and antibacterial cleaning materials for use during your stay.
Our enhanced cleaning regime will include:
Wearing appropriate protective clothing eg disposable gloves, aprons and masks during the cleaning process
'Double cleaning' between each visit - carry out our usual thorough deep clean and then again with a recommended sanitiser paying particular attention to high touch items and areas clearly detailed in the Cleaning Checklist (completed and left in the cottage) as per guidelines
Checking crockery, cutlery, glassware and cookware after each visit and re washing as required
Washing all linens and towels including mattress and pillow protectors with non bio washing powder + Dettol Antibacterial Laundry Cleanser at the highest recommended temperature for the items
Providing antibacterial hand sanitiser and hand soap for guests' personal use
However, some things will continue to be slightly different from usual and we do require your continued cooperation with a few things:
Please strip the bed before leaving. We're sorry to have to ask you to do this but removing bedding gives the opportunity to make the virus airborne (the main route for contracting the virus) hence the advice for asking guests to strip the beds themselves. Laundry bags will be provided in the wardrobe for all the bedding and towels and dressing gowns.
Please remove all the bin liners, tie the handles and place in the green bin outside.
Please leave the front windows and upstairs landing windows open on departure and ventilate the cottage throughout your stay.
To reduce the risk of touch contamination, we have decided to remove all non single use items from the cottage including grocery items in the kitchen, and whilst we will provide sachets for that first cup of tea or coffee, please bring your favourite tea and coffee, condiments and cooking oil. Individual single use washing up 'cleaning packs' will be provided, (together with tea towels and all bed linen and towels), and individual bottles of body wash in the shower room too.
We have removed certain items from the cottage (e.g videos and board games) and kept soft furnishings and paper information leaflets to a minimum. We will rotate a set of useful OS maps and walks for each stay. If there is any kitchen equipment that you need and cannot see, please let us know and we will hopefully be able to provide it.
