We have completed our Risk Assessment and Cleaning Schedules (available on request) following the government approved cleaning protocols provided by The Professional Association of Self-Caterers (PASC UK) and will continue to monitor the cleaning guidelines and make any changes as required. We have signed up to and received accreditation from two Covid ready schemes, Visit England and the AA, confirming we can reopen and safely welcome guests to Jack's Cottage once restrictions are lifted.
In addition, we have decided to leave at least 24 hrs between each stay meaning no guests will leave and arrive on the same day .
Our enhanced cleaning regime will include:
Wearing protective disposable gloves, aprons and masks during the cleaning process
'Double cleaning' between each visit - carry out our usual thorough clean and then again with a recommended sanitiser paying particular attention to high touch items and areas clearly detailed in the Cleaning Checklist (completed and left in the cottage) as per guidelines
Re-washing all crockery, cutlery, glassware and cookware after each visit
Steam cleaning or spraying soft furnishings after each stay
Washing all linens and towels including mattress and pillow protectors with non bio washing powder + Dettol Antibacterial Laundry Cleanser at the highest recommended temperature for the items
Rotating pillows and duvet if less than 72 hrs between guests
Providing antibacterial hand sanitiser and hand soap for guests' personal use
However, some things are slightly different from usual and we do require your cooperation with a few things:
Please strip the bed before leaving. We're sorry to have to ask you to do this but removing bedding gives the opportunity to make the virus airborne (the main route for contracting the virus) hence the advice for asking guests to strip the beds themselves. Laundry bags will be provided in the wardrobe for all the bedding and towels and dressing gowns.
Please remove all the bin liners, tie the handles and place in the green bin outside.
Please leave the front windows and upstairs landing windows open on departure.
To reduce the risk of touch contamination, we have decided to remove all non single use items from the cottage including grocery items in the kitchen, and whilst we will provide sachets for that first cup of tea or coffee, please bring your favourite tea and coffee, condiments and cooking oil. Individual single use washing up 'cleaning packs' will be provided, (together with tea towels and all bed linen and towels), and individual bottles of body wash in the shower room too.
We have removed certain items from the cottage (e.g videos and board games) and kept soft furnishings and paper information leaflets to a minimum. We will rotate a set of useful OS maps and walks for each stay. We have also reduced the amount of kitchen equipment as everything has to be rewashed between guests, but if there is something you need please let us know and we will hopefully be able to provide it.
All guests must adhere to the relevant Covid Tier restrictions whilst staying at Jack's Cottage (details in the cottage).
We are so looking forward to welcoming guests old and new as soon as possible and hope the above officially approved Covid-19 measures will give you confidence to book your stay at Jack's Cottage.
